Italian audio company Volumio has introduced the Lineo 5 Duo, a new linear power supply designed to provide clean, stable power to two audio components simultaneously.
The Lineo 5 Duo features two independent 5V outputs, with each channel capable of delivering up to 4A. Volumio says the power supply was developed primarily to complement its Rivo Plus network transport and Preciso DAC, allowing both components to be powered from a single external power supply.
The new model builds on the company’s existing Lineo 5, which was designed to power a single device. With the Lineo 5 Duo, each output has its own dedicated stabilization and filtering circuitry. According to Volumio, this configuration helps minimize mutual interference between connected components and reduces electrical noise on the power lines.
At the heart of the Lineo 5 Duo is a large toroidal transformer, paired with capacitors selected for audio applications. Unlike conventional external switching power adapters, the Lineo 5 Duo uses a linear power supply design. Volumio says this approach is intended to reduce high-frequency electrical interference that can potentially affect sensitive digital and analog audio equipment.
The power supply is housed in a non-magnetic aluminum chassis, which also incorporates integrated cooling fins to help dissipate heat generated during operation. Despite being designed with Volumio’s own components in mind, the Lineo 5 Duo is not limited to the Rivo Plus and Preciso. It can also be used with other equipment that requires 5V power, provided the device’s current requirements are within the power supply’s capabilities.
The Volumio Lineo 5 Duo is positioned as a solution for listeners who want to power multiple audio components from a single, dedicated linear supply while keeping the two power outputs electrically isolated from one another.
The Lineo 5 Duo has a recommended retail price of €469 in Europe.
